Leichtbau als olympische Disziplin

Ohne Leichtbau können die Ziele des EU Green Deals nicht erreicht werden. Warum? Weil die Physik nicht lügt. Das war das Motto der Leichtbau-Session beim Zukunftsforum Oberösterreich 2024 am 10. April im Oberbank Donau-Forum in Linz. Denn Leichtbau ist die Technologie, die Energie- und Ressourceneffizienz sowie Reduzieren von CO2-Emissionen ermöglicht. Und das nicht nur bei der Mobilität.

Sustainable solutions for mobility

Ultimate Europe was founded in 2003 and develops, services and sells automatic door systems, gangways and interior equipment for rail vehicles. To find these three product areas combined in one company is unique in the industry. Lightweight materials and technology

At Graz University of Technology, several research groups focus on the design of metal and hybrid lightweight materials, advanced materials processing and manufacturing, and fatigue design issues. We are frontrunners in the additive manufacturing of metals and composites for ultra-lightweight structures in mobility applications.

“Lightweight construction correlates with climate goals”

Material and energy are scarce, climate action is the order of the day. And lightweight construction is the answer. Automotive cluster manager Florian Danmayr talked to Stefan Seidel, CTO of Pankl Racing Systems and spokesperson of the A2LT lightweight construction platform, about what lightweight construction actually is and how it can function as a key technology for mitigating climate change.

“Lightweight construction is special”

In Austria, lightweight construction generates 9.4 billion euros in added value and secures 77,400 jobs. This is the result of a study conducted by Anna Kleissner on behalf of the Austrian Lightweight Platform and the industry division of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber. The economist discussed the details with Automotive Cluster Manager Florian Danmayr.
